Open a series
Any Pyth price, a band and a Friday, in one approval.
Before you start
- A wallet connected to the app, with a little SOL for network fees.
- The Pyth feed's market must be open: a series opens on a live price.
Steps
- In the Series tab, choose Open a series.
- Search a price: type a name or symbol, such as gold, EUR/USD or NVIDIA, and pick the feed.
- The app reads Pyth's price at the chain's clock and suggests a band: the feed class's usual weekly move on either side, rounded to clean edges. Change H and L if you want a different band.
- Choose an expiry: any of the next four Fridays at 20:00 UTC.
- Check the summary: what one pair costs, the mint fee per pair, and the settlement rule.
- Choose Open series and approve once in your wallet.
The app posts Pyth's signed price to Solana, verifies it, opens the series with that price as its opening price, and then closes the temporary price account to return its rent. These are a few transactions, all in the one approval. Then the series appears in the list, ready for minting.
If the exact band and expiry already exist, the app takes you to that series instead. Every series is identified by its feed, band and expiry.
Good to know
- Opening a series does not mint anything. Mint pairs as a separate step.
- A Ditto Spot vault needs a band whose L is above zero.
- The opening price must be fresh when the transaction lands: within the price age in Parameters. Approve promptly; if the price ages out, open again.
